Dual Laser Treatment Technique



Moles are lesions that occur when melanin-producing cells become excessively numerous in the epidermis or dermis of the skin.

Although they may appear as common pigmentations, the removal method varies depending on the depth and location of the mole.

Erbium YAG laser is advantageous for delicately and thinly resurfacing the skin's surface. Using this laser, superficial moles in the epidermal layer can be removed with minimal impact on the surrounding skin.

This procedure reduces the risk of scarring, allowing for good results in mole removal on the face. In the next step, a CO2 laser is used to precisely cauterize the root of the mole with heat. This process helps reduce mole recurrence by eliminating melanin cells that may remain deep within the skin. It is significant in preventing moles from growing back when only the surface is removed, leaving the root intact.

Finishing with a CO2 laser can be particularly beneficial for treatment efficacy in the following cases:

-When the mole lesion is raised or feels thick upon palpation

-When there is a history of mole recurrence in the same area

-When a deep dermal nevus, such as a blue mole or grayish-brown mole, is suspected


Flat warts are skin conditions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They often appear as thin, flat, brown or flesh-colored lesions spread widely across the epidermal layer. They primarily occur when immunity is weakened and can spread to other areas through self-contact, so prompt treatment should be considered.

The Erbium YAG laser is suitable for uniformly removing the epidermal layer, making it effective for widely distributed flat warts.

It can be used for efficient improvement. This method has the advantage of evenly removing lesions while minimizing stress on the skin. However, viral lesions have a possibility of recurrence if only the surface is removed. In such cases, additional cauterization using a CO2 laser to apply heat around the lesion can help reduce the possibility of recurrence by eliminating virus-infected cells that may remain in the epidermis and surrounding areas.

CO2 laser finishing is especially considered more carefully in the following cases:

-When the lesion's borders are unclear, or it feels flat and spread out upon palpation, or for individuals with weakened immunity due to stress, lack of sleep, etc.

-When there is a history of wart recurrence multiple times

-When lesions are present on body parts prone to frequent contact or easy viral spread, such as hands or face


Milia are small, white cysts formed when keratin, a fibrous protein, becomes trapped beneath the skin. They are commonly observed around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and unlike sebaceous cysts, they are not directly associated with infection or inflammation.

Erbium YAG laser is effectively used to remove milia. It delicately exfoliates the skin surface to open the thin layer covering the milia, creating a safe pathway for the trapped keratin to be expelled. A light finishing cauterization with a CO2 laser after the procedure can help reduce the possibility of remaining keratinocytes re-proliferating, thereby decreasing the chance of milia recurring in the same location. However, excessive heat stimulation can cause hyperpigmentation, so precise intensity control is essential.

Situations where CO2 laser finishing is particularly useful are as follows:

-When milia repeatedly recur in the same area

-When lesions have reappeared during the recovery process after treatment

-When desiring a more consistent skin texture during the recovery phase after removing multiple milia


Syringomas are benign skin tumors caused by the excessive proliferation of sweat gland tissue in the dermis. They are characterized by multiple small, bead-like lesions that appear around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead. They are often influenced by genetics or commonly found in women in their 20s and 30s.

Erbium YAG laser is used for treating syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes because it can delicately and thinly remove the epidermis. This laser smooths the skin surface and removes the upper part of the sweat gland lesions. They are common in areas where skin frequently folds, such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and eyelids, appearing as small, skin-colored protrusions. They are not painful but can become irritated by friction. Generally, CO2 laser is primarily used for skin tag removal, quickly treating multiple lesions with its excellent excision and hemostatic capabilities. However, for small and thin skin tags, precisely ablating the lesion surface with an Erbium YAG laser followed by cauterization of the base with a CO2 laser can help remove the root of the skin tag, contributing to a reduction in recurrence. This thermal stimulation has the effect of regulating the activity of fibroblasts and microvessels within the tissue, thereby inhibiting lesion regrowth.

How long should DuoDERM (healing patch) be applied after mole removal?





Mole removal is a delicate procedure that precisely treats the superficial layers of the skin, and it may lead to subtle changes in your skin for a certain period after the treatment.

Therefore, it is important to properly protect the treated area and support the recovery process.


In particular, paying attention to moisturizing the treated area to prevent dryness can help accelerate recovery and improve skin clarity.

For this type of care, we recommend using hydrocolloid dressings.


Moist wound dressings maintain an appropriate moist environment for the treated area, promoting healthy regeneration of new cells. This can help reduce unnecessary scab formation, thereby minimizing the possibility of scarring.


After mole removal, apply a moist wound dressing immediately, and it is recommended to change it approximately every 3-5 days, managing the area for at least 7 days.

Overall, consistent care for about 10 days can aid in recovery.


If using a moist wound dressing is difficult or if an allergic reaction occurs on your skin, you can apply a generous amount of regenerating cream or moist gel to prevent dryness. Additionally, be sure to apply sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher thoroughly, and be careful not to touch or irritate the treated area.
